March has been a breakthrough for me in regards to my Linux experience.
First of all, I was able to connect wirelessly at SMBC, which uses WPA and TKIP and PEAP-MSCHAPV2... I was confused with all of these, I tried to use xsupplicant to get connected. But after many hours of trial and error, and the help of Gary, Scott I was still unable to get it to work.
Then at the start of this month, I came across wpasupplicant, and referring to the example configuration files (which for me [ubuntu 5.10] is located at /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/examples/wpa_supplicant.conf.gz ), I finally was able to get it connected. Though, sometimes it takes a little longer to authenticate, but at least it seems to work:)
And today, I finally got ubuntu to print to my cheap Canon MF5650 multifunction printer. I've asked several Canon tech support in Australia, Europe and United States, but all of them said that they have no plans to release a driver for this printer, NOT EVEN just for the print function! But I guess it was my mistake - assuming that large companies like Canon would support Linux... how wrong was I!!! Well, I guess the next printer I buy would probably be a HP... since Ubuntu supports them out of the box. But anyway, I'll continue to try to email Canon every now and then to see if they have changed their mind and release a linux driver for their printer.
Anyway, so the temporary solution I've found today was to set up a windows printer server, http://www.nmosug.org/admin-wiki/index.php/Printing_with_Santa_Fe_Linux, the instructions is very straightforward, and I had no problems with it except a minor authentication problem I had which was easily fixed. So now, I can print to this printer directly from ubuntu, the only problem is I'll need my windows machine to be turned on every time I wanted to print. But thats better than nothing.

But the linked page is unavailablle
After a long search for a help to print to my Sharp ar 5316, i got this post. But unfortunately the link in this page is not working...
LinuxPrinting
Unfortunately the internet is constantly evolving, with new contents added, and old one deleted...
http://www.linuxprinting.org would be your best chance in finding the driver or workaround for your printer.
If you're interested in sharing the printer from a Windows box, search in Google for windows redmon printer sharing

This was of good help
This blog was of very good help to me. I was trying to print to a canon MF5650 MFD and SHarp AR5316, copier printer, from the linux machines in our office network. With the guidance from the articles I successfully set up printing to these machines from the linux boxes. Thanks once again.
Regards,
Raju
Glad to help
Hi Raju, I'm glad that you find the blog helpful and that you are able to get your linux machine working with the printers.
dhclient
My experience is that sometimes, the network doesn't come up for quite a while. I thought it was the problem of the wpa supplicant. But recently, I've found out that the connection was ok - rather the problem was due to the computer not getting an IP address from the DHCP server. So if the network doesn't come up, then you can try:
sudo dhclient
